Fall Term: Abstract Painting and Mixed Media (Tues Aft)

This class will challenge students and help them change their perspective on art, as well as their art practice. Abstract art is art that does not represent an accurate depiction of visual reality. Communicating instead through lines, shapes, colours, forms, and gestural marks. Artists will use a variety of techniques to create their work, mixing traditional means with more experimental ideas. Abstraction is not simply a style or movement; it can exist in all art to certain degrees. It can be seen as ‘freedom from representational qualities in art’ and ‘not representing things pictorially’.

Along with the Material List for students to purchase there is a $25 material fee to cover art school supplies used within the course.
